The Garrett-Jacobs Mansion Endowment Fund (GJMEF)—along with co-sponsors the Engineering Society of Baltimore, the Mount Vernon Place Conservancy, and Baltimore Heritage—is pleased to announce the first ever "Mount Vernon Place Plein Air Art Show." The debut event will be held at the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion (home of The Engineers Club) on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 1 to 5 p.m. The event, a fundraiser for the GJMEF, will showcase the beauty of Mount Vernon Place as seen through the eyes of 25 talented artists whose work will be displayed within the magnificent 19th century Garrett-Jacobs Mansion.

This spring and summer, members of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association—en plein air refers to painting outdoors—will work throughout Mount Vernon, one of America's most beautiful urban spaces. Mount Vernon Place is renowned for its magnificent 19th century mansions and cultural institutions, including the Peabody Conservatory and the Walters Art Museum and  its centerpiece is the 200 year old Washington Monument. Artists will find ample sources of inspiration—including gardens, magnificent architecture, statuary, fountains, and walking paths—from the four park squares that surround the Washington Monument.

For the Sept. 29th show, the en plein air artists will display their work for view and purchase in the enclosed light-filled courtyard of the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion. Tickets are $25, include entrance to the event along with wine and cheese refreshments, and may be purchased at baltimoreheritage.org. The art work will be for sale and will be taken home by purchasers that afternoon.
