ESBEF Scholarships & Loans

The goal of the ESB Education Foundation (ESB-EF) is to support talented Baltimore Metropolitan Area high school students wanting to become engineers with financial support.

The ESB-EF program provides low-interest loans and three one-time scholarship grants.

Metropolitan Area eligible students must reside in: Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, or Howard Counties.

Loan & Scholarship Information

The Engineering Society of Baltimore Education Foundation is offering scholarship loans and grants to graduating high school students that will be pursuing a degree in engineering in an ABET approved program. The scholarships are limited to students from the Baltimore Metropolitan area including Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard Counties.

This year, multiple scholarships and up to three $4,000, 4% are being offered. The loans are renewable each year providing the student is still enrolled in an ABET approved program, his/her grades are acceptable, and he/she is up to date on the interest payments.

An ESB Corporate Member, James Posey Associates, has founded a special scholarship, the “James Posey Centennial Engineering Scholarship” in the amount of $3,000 to be awarded to an individual aspiring to a career in electrical or mechanical engineering.

The American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) Chesapeake Section is offering two (2) scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each to be awarded to individuals aspiring to a career in the Highway Industry (including, but not limited to Civil and Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, Traffic Engineering, Transportation Planning and Construction Management).

Additional scholarship awards will be made to an outstanding candidates based on specific criteria of additional scholarship sponsors.

All scholarships are one-time grants.

The loans and grants are unrestricted and can be used for any purpose the student desires.

The deadline for application has been extended to 11:59 PM, Friday April 1, 2022.

The application for the scholarship loans and grants must be completed via the online application.

Ms. Pham graduated from Aberdeen High School in Harford County and will be attending California Institute of Technology, majoring in Mechanical Engineering this fall.
Zachary William Ewing
ESB Scholarship Grant

Mr. Ewing graduated from C. Milton Wright High School in Harford County, and will be attending Florida Institute of Technology, majoring in Aerospace this fall.

Brennan Michael Gray
James Posey Centennial Engineering Scholarship & $4,000 Loan Awarde

Mr. Gray a graduate of Aberdeen High School in Harford County, will be attending University of Maryland, College Park this fall, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

Caroline Victoria Anderson & Matthew Thomas LiCausi
$4,000 Loan Awardees

Ms. Anderson a graduate of South River High School in Anne Arundel County, will be attending University of Virginia this fall, majoring in Biomedical Engineering. Mr. LiCausi graduated from Broadneck High School, Anne Arundel County, and will be attending University of Maryland, A. James Clark School of Engineering, majoring in Chemical Engineering this fall.

The ESB Education Foundation Board of Trustees reviewed over 60 applications which was narrowed to 10 finalists. They conducted interviews with the 10 finalists on Sunday, April 28th to determine the 2019 Scholarship & Loan Awardees. The Engineers Club extends their congratulations to this years awardees and offers their thanks to the trustees.
