Engineering Awards

Traditionally, the Associate Society Council of the Engineering Society of Baltimore has presented awards to the Baltimore engineering profession during National Engineers Week in the following five (5) categories with the accompanying eligibility requirements:

Engineer of the Year

  • Eligibility requirements include that the candidate be 37 Years or older as of December 31 in the awarded year.
  • A degree in Engineering, or a Professional's Engineer's license in the State of Maryland, and a practicing engineer within the State of Maryland.
  • Member in good standing with an Associate Society which is a member in good standing of the Engineering Society of Baltimore.

Young Engineer of the Year

  • Eligibility requirements include that the candidate be 36 Years or younger as of December 31 in the awarded year.
  • A degree in engineering, EIT Certification, or a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Maryland, and a resident, practicing engineer within the State of Maryland.
  • Member in good standing with an Associate Society which is a member in good standing of the Engineering Society of Baltimore.

Project of the Year

  • Eligibility requirements include that the candidate be either an individual or firm responsible for the project. The individual must be a resident within the State of Maryland or the firm must be a Maryland-based firm.
  • The project must have been completed during the associate society's qualifying time period but not after December 31 of the awarded year.
  • The project must be a significant accomplishment or contribution solving environmental problems, traffic congestion, industrial research and development, energy and conservation, national defense, or other worthy project that contributes to human or social need.

Business Firm of the Year

  • Eligibility requirements include that the candidate firm must have maintained an active office in the State of Maryland in the year awarded.
  • The candidate firm must have completed work on a project located in the State of Maryland in the year awarded.

Meritorious Service to the Engineering Profession

  • Eligibility requirements include a degree in engineering or a Professional Engineer's License in the State of Maryland.
  • Member in good standing with an Associate Society which is a member in good standing of the Engineering Society of Baltimore.
